Nightmares
It was a normal day on the Thousands Sunny.
That was to say that Usopp had already blown something up once, gotten Tabasco sauce in Sanji’s eye, endured his wrath, and finally retreated below deck.
That was to say that Franky was banging and clanking below deck, putting together something that would surely bring them glorious victory in their next ocean battle.
That was to say that Luffy was sitting on the bow exclaiming over every seagull that flew past and using his long arms trying to catch it. He had actually managed to catch one and it had landed on Nami’s newspaper, incurring the ire of the navigator until he had scurried up into the rigging, laughing all the way.
And Zoro slept through it all, occasionally snoring but mostly just peacefully sitting in the sun, snoozing.
“Zoro-san seems to be able to sleep through anything, hm?” Brook said, examining one of his new nakama.
Robin laughed gently behind one hand. “He certainly can.”
“It’s really very pathetic,” Nami remarked from her place on the deck.
“Doesn’t anything wake him?” Brook asked.
Without looking up, Nami said into her newspaper, “Hey, it’s that Marine swordswoman, Tashigi.”
Zoro shot to his feet, scrambled up the rigging and into the enclosed crow’s nest without another word.
Robin chuckled.
Brook considered this.
“Remember it,” Nami said with a sigh. “Between that and food, it’s the only way we’re ever able to scrub the deck underneath his sleeping butt.”
